Our Young Heart Hero finalists are examples of true bravery and strength. They not only prove that they are champions on a daily basis, but they help others to understand their condition and the importance of heart health. They are ambassadors amongst their peers, raising awareness and exemplifying courage so that others can follow their example in beating similar conditions.
Jayden was born with a Tetrology of Fallots, a rare condition caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth. These defects, which affect the structure of the heart, cause oxygen-poor blood to flow out of the heart and to the rest of the body.Jayden is living and growing with this congenital heart condition and despite sometimes feeling a bit under the weather, he refuses to let this stop him being a champion. He is fighting his condition and refuses to let it beat him. Jayden has helped to raise awareness of his condition amongst his friends and family, whilst setting himself personal challenges including his participation in the Jersey Marathon Fun Run - alongside our BHF Jersey mascot, Hearty! He has helped to organise collections at his local football games and has already fundraised nearly £2k in the process (which was doubled on the night of the awards!).
